Intellectual property protection solution
In France, all original creative work is protected by copyright. The Acts of 11 March 1957 and 3 July 1985 mention the right of exclusive ownership of a work by its creator, the right on exploitation and the right to authorize or refuse use by a third party.
Articles L.111-1 and L.123-1 of the Intellectual Property Code specify that the author shall enjoy the music copyright during their lifetime. Upon their death, this right is transferred to their heirs for a period of 70 years thereafter. Music protection is therefore granted as soon as the work exists, but in the event of plagiarism, it is advisable to be able to prove ownership by more secure options.

As explained above, musical copyright is automatically conferred. Nevertheless, to reliably protect their creative work, authors should register their music or copyright with an organization, a governmental agency or companies specialized in the protection of music copyright.
The authenticity and ownership of a musical work can be protected by SACEM (Society of Authors, Composers and Music Publishers) provided that at least 5 works are filed with them, including one already being reproduced. The SNAC (National Union of Authors and Composers) and the INPI (National Institute of Intellectual Protection) also provide music protection, as do lawyers and attorneys. This procedure does have a cost for the author and can be a long and drawn-out process depending on the intermediary chosen.
However, SACEM does ensure the authorship of the work and also manages the payment of royalties.
In order to simplify the procedure, Fidealis, a company specialising in secure, online timestamping and copyright protection, takes care of all the formalities needed to register music copyright. It immediately protects your work thanks to tamper-proof tools:

The music copyright include economic rights, enabling the author to control the reproduction, distribution and exploitation of his musical works, as well as moral rights, which protect the personality and authorship of the creation.
To protect your music rights effectively, we recommend registering your work with a copyright registration service or bailiff. This will provide you with dated, indisputable proof of your authorship.
Economic rights in a musical work are protected for 70 years after the death of the author. Moral rights, on the other hand, are perpetual and protect the integrity and respect of the creation.
Yes, some copyright registration services offer international protection, enabling you to defend your music rights in several countries.
In the event of illegal exploitation, you can initiate legal proceedings with the proof of deposit. The bailiff can draw up a report and send a formal notice to the usurper, before filing a complaint for counterfeiting.
